Sky Garden House / Guz Architects This house is located on a new housing estate on the island of Sentosa adjacent to Singapore. The plots are not large and neighbouring buildings are built close to the sides of each house. Thus our strategy was to build a solid wall to each side neighbor to provide privacy where possible, while creating a central light and stair well which would funnel the sea breeze through the centre of the building (read more…)
Hsiangshan Visitor Center / Norihiko Dan Enta Yang shared with us the photographs he took of the Hsiangshan Visitor Center by Japan architect Norihiko Dan in Taiwan, winner project from the Sun Moon Lake Tourist Route International competition, featuring a really nice concrete work and a green roof cover to keep under control internal temperatures (read more…)
Cluny House / Guz Architects The project demonstrates how technology, planning and design can be applied sensitively to generate a comfortable, luxurious, yet sustainable family home. Photovoltaic cells and solar water heaters are employed together with design for passive cooling and cross ventilation to reduce energy usage. Irrigation tanks and roof gardens collect and recycle rainwater; and the use of materials such as recycled teak and artificial timber adds warmth without compromising the finite resources of our environment (read more…)
Costa Brava Gran Casino / b720 Fermín Vázquez Arquitectos The Gran Casino Costa Brava, located in the historic gardens of the Gran Hotel Monterrey in the centre of Lloret de Mar (Girona), is based on a distinctive environmental and architectural project by b720 Arquitectos, headed by Fermín Vázquez. VIAS Space / estudioSIC A place conceived for and from the civil participation, as espacio VIAS case, means a strong investment for people to get involved in the urban structure and constitution.
